Vision
Our vision as a church is to experience renewed life as Jesus renews our affections, giving us renewed purpose, fulfilled alongside renewed relationships.
Although we believe that Jesus set the mission for every Christian Church throughout history, when He commissioned His very first followers to make disciples.
We believe that each individual church will have its own unique vision for how they will make disciples in their unique setting in history.
As Jesus builds His church at Olive Branch, we are aiming at these four targets:
Perspective • Mission • Community • Discipleship
We gather to encounter God and connect people to a renewed perspective about God, themselves, and the world around them.
We are a Non-Denominational, Jesus-Loving Bible Church.
The Bible teaches us two realities about every human being—we are made in the image of God and therefore have intrinsic value, and yet we are simultaneously broken and have a sinful nature that is in rebellion against God. Like a car that is out of alignment, we naturally pull towards destruction. Because of this, our goal is to gather on Sundays to encounter God together as we worship, pray, and open scripture so that we would be transformed by the Holy Spirit into the people He desires us to be.
A right perspective about God allows us to have a right perspective about ourselves and the world around us.
We gather to equip and commission the people of God in the Mission of God.
We are an others-centered, generous church.
We believe that having a right perspective about God, ourselves, and the world around us will lead us to jump headlong into the mission of God both locally and globally.
We believe that the success of our church is not based upon what is said, sung, or done in our Sunday gathering. Our success as a church is based upon what we do when we leave our gathering and engage with the world. Gathering on Sunday is not our end goal; we gather so we can be better equipped to effectively scatter in our surrounding community.
As a church, we are committed to setting aside a baseline of ten percent of our resources to support local mission & justice work as well as those who are heralding Jesus’ message abroad.
We gather to learn to follow Jesus and to commit to carry out His mission together.
We are a multi-generational church of Home Groups, not merely a church with home groups.
The mission God has entrusted us with, is not meant to be done alone. He’s instructed that we do it together. Mission and community go hand-in-hand.
When we choose to follow Jesus, we become a member of His family. Scripture calls this family a body; each member representing a different part. As a part of a body, each person has the opportunity to use their unique gifts to bless others and honor God.
This Core Value is realized through our Home Groups.
Home Groups are not just an activity of our church, but a key characteristic of what we believe and our hearts desire for every person connected to our church. A home group is where someone can experience the gift of being known and loved in our church.
We gather as a community of people to experience renewed life in Jesus.
We are committed to studying the words of Jesus, walking in the ways of Jesus, and partnering in the mission of Jesus.
We must be disciples (apprentices) of Jesus who are determined to make more disciples. That is the single most important mandate Jesus gave the church.
Making disciples of Jesus is our grand goal as a church.
We believe that we accomplish that goal by having our Perspective re-aligned in our weekend gathering, by embracing the Mission that Jesus has entrusted to us, and by carrying out that mission together as a Community.
We define a disciple of Jesus as someone whose head, heart, & hands are changed by the gospel. That we grow in our understanding of the gospel (head). That we are confident in our identity in Christ (heart). And that we are active in lovingly serving others around us (hands).
